tip: When you take a ran of candied pecans out of the oven and the sugary syrup is still boiling, don't sample them yet.

I was looking at a map on the computer.  Jackson pointed to one part of it and asked, "Is that where we live?"  I said, "Nope, we live over here."  Then he pointed to a star on the map that showed where JoAnn's fabric store is. "And maybe that star is where the wise men went to see the baby Jesus!"

This might be a first...

I'm not sure when these are from...I just found them written on scraps of paper...

Jackson:  "Ant, if you want to eat me, you have to sit at that huge giant table.  If you don't sit at the table, you can't eat me."

Jackson, in frustration: The door isn't opening!
Me: Well, you're still wearing jammies!
Jackson: That's NOT nervous!

Jackson:  "There is a creature! A creature is stirring!"

Jackson: We can eat muffins after we hang up the red balls...but we'll probly need tape....

I started singing "The day dawn is breaking, the world is awaking..." Jackson interrupted me: "But Mom! We don't break things!"

We were listening to some classical music on the radio.  After the song, the radio announcer came on.
Jackson: "Is that the prayer now? Or is it the speaker?"

Jack had a headache.
Jackson: "I know!  We can make brownies! That will make you happy, Daddy!"

I was putting jackets on boys and they were kind of similar looking.
Jackson said: Ya know what? I bet our sister will have a jacket like this too!

This is how I found Jackson when I came down from putting Clayton to sleep and showering... He had helped himself to a bowl of noodles with parmesan cheese. And then he told me when he finishes his noodles he can have a piece of cake.

Museum of Life & Science

We had dinner with some friends and Jackson sat at the "kid" table in the kitchen while we were in the dining room.  He ate the apples, strawberries, and some pork but didn't touch the sweet potatoes.  On the way home I asked him if he liked his dinner.  He replied, "Yeah, but I didn't like those potatoes.  They were rusty."

For some reason it feels wrong to eat pumpkin cookies while painting a face on a pumpkin. I just want to cover his eyes and say 'don't watch as i eat your cousins! '

Thank you, Apex Fire Department, for opening my car after Clayton locked himself inside in the Kroger parking lot.  Note to self: Don't let baby play with the keys in his car seat while you return the cart.

Baby took 2 steps yesterday and has gotten 3 new teeth this week!

Jackson: I see birds over there!
Me: I do too! What color are they? (they were black)
J: But I don't see any colors on them. I think they are empty.

Clayton climbed up and is standing on top of a file folder box.

I told Jackson we were going to go to dad's work to have lunch with him. He told me he'd pack the food and he did. Carrots, ranch, and a jar of baby food.

Clayton's newest trick: dumping cups of water out of the tub.

Today it was 60 degrees and breezey out. Wednesday we were sweating at the park. Jackson said "It sure is different out here today!"

Jack was tired and ready for bed, but Jackson kept stalling.
Mom: We need to read a story before dad collapses on the floor. 
After the story... 
Jackson:  Ok dad do like this! (sits on the floor makes big clapping motions).


I didn't get it until Jack caught on to what he was doing...Dad collapses (claps) on the floor.

He has been running around in circles for 30 minutes.

Jackson, at 3 AM:  "But mom! I just want to be an owl!"

Jackson just came scootering towards me and said: "Welcome to meet you! My name is Jackson. Let's shake hands!"

Jackson wants to go on an adventure through the 'dark scoopy forest.'

Just for comparison, here he is Sept 2010, almost exactly a year ago, doing the exact same thing.  And the funny part is that until today, he hadn't this since that time a year ago.  Must be the Annual September Fire Hydrant Sitting time again.

Jackson:  "We're going on a bear hunt, old school!"

Microwave beeps.

Jackson: What is in the microwave?

Me: Clayton's peas.

Jackson: My pee is just in my body and comes out my penis.

Jackson:  Huh? But I thought Kellogg's was red, not orange!
